Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man died following an attack in a Kent town centre.
Riccardo Holness, 42, suffered head injuries during an assault in Beckenham High Street, just after 1.20am on Sunday, October 17.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he died nearly a month later, on Friday, November 12.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of his death as blunt force trauma to the head.
A 26-year-old man, arrested the day after the assault on suspicion of GBH, was subsequently bailed pending further enquiries.
Det Insp Dave Blair, from Specialist Crime at the Met Police, is appealing for witnesses to come forward as the enquiry is now being treated as a murder investigation.
He said: “Our thoughts remain with Riccardo’s family who are understandably distraught at what has happened.
"We are working hard to establish the facts of the incident and would ask anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
Call police on 101, giving the reference 536/17OCT21. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
