A pedestrian died last night after being run over by a van reportedly fleeing a stabbing.
Police were called to Belmont Lane, Chislehurst, near Bromley, at 8.50pm to reports of a fight near the Gordon Arms pub.
Soon after, a man said to be in his 30s was hit by the vehicle in nearby Slades Drive.
The driver failed to stop and the van was later found abandoned.
Two men were found near the pub with stab injuries.
No arrests have yet been made and police are linking the two incidents.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 8.52pm to Belmont Lane in Chislehurst following reports of men fighting.
"At 8.54pm, police were alerted to a collision involving a van and a pedestrian near to Slades Drive, Chislehurst.
"The pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 30s, died at the scene.
"The van did not stop at the scene and was found abandoned nearby.
"Inquiries are in their early stages, however, these incidents are currently being treated as linked.
"Extensive cordons and road closures are in place as inquiries continue. There have been no arrests."
Police are still in the area and have shut Green Lane between the junctions of Belmont Lane and Mead Road.
Belmont Lane itself is also closed and traffic is being diverted away from the area.
One person working nearby said: "We've only just opened and I've not heard anyone come in and say anything about it yet.
"The roads were blocked on my way in and I had to go around a diversion to get to work.
"There's no tributes that I can see yet but there are police in the area."
