A person has died after being hit by a train.

The tragic incident happened at Beckenham Junction Railway Station yesterday (December 21) morning.

The power was turned off while the emergency services were at the scene.

Services between Brixton and Shortlands had to be diverted between Bromley South and Victoria.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10:25am on Saturday, December 21 to reports of an incident at Beckenham Junction Railway Station.

"We sent an incident response officer and a medic in a fast response car.

"Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene."

Trains started running again from 12.50pm.
