It’s not the sort of thing you expect to come across on the way to work in a built up area but this is the sight that greeted one commuter as he headed in this morning.

Charlie O’Connor was riding his motorbike up Leesons Hill in Orpington just after 7.30am today (March 28) when he spotted two pigs snaffling on leftovers on the side of the road.

Eager to capture the moment, the 18-year-old jumped off his bike and snapped a selfie with the nomadic swines.

Charlie, from Petts Wood, told KentOnline: “I was on my way to work and was pretty surprised to see them.”

Another snap which was widely circulated online showed the hogs feasting on another meal in a parking space in Scarlet Close, opposite the entrance to St Mary Cray station.

Other passing commuters were also shocked by the sight of farmyard animals with some taking to social media to speculate as to where they had come from.

One woman said: “They’ve been seen roaming around the woods at Chislehurst since last week.

“Are they still there? Has anyone reported? They must belong to someone surely.”

A video clip, entitled “normal start to Thursday” was also posted online showing the pigs crossing the road and trotting past residents.

One concerned woman posted underneath: “Hope they don’t get run over.

“Is anyone able to guide them into an enclosed garden or area? Whilst owners are located.”

To honour his unusual morning, Charlie has decided to offer a five percent discount to any customers coming into his shop and mentioning the code word “pigs”.

Charlie, who works at roofing material supplier Aztec Seven in Station Approach, St Mary’s Cray, thinks the animals may have come from a farm or someone’s garden.

He is hoping they have found their way home and said a woman, who had also stopped, was attempting to get them rescued.
