Crews were attending to a call out for an unwell child when thieves are reported to have smashed a window to gain access to the ambulance.

Personal items belonging to the medics were stolen from the locked vehicle including their work iPads.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “This break in caused an ambulance to be taken off the road for repairs when it could be out responding to those who need us most.

“It’s sickening that thieves should steal from the NHS and our medics when they were treating a poorly child."

The ambulance crew is encouraging anyone with information to call police on 101 and quote CAD 1303/24AUG
