A man has been convicted of manslaughter after fatally stabbing his father.
Paul Maurice was stabbed in the back and chest 30 times in the late evening of September 14, 2021, at his home in Widmore Road, Bromley.
At around 10.45pm that night, a neighbour of Paul, 51, answered their front door after Paul rang the doorbell multiple times.
Paul was found bare-chested and covered in blood as a result of multiple stab wounds, and he said he had been attacked by his son, Sean Maurice, with a knife.
An ambulance was called at around 10.50pm, and police and paramedics attended.
First aid was administered and when he was asked who had attacked him, he replied 'Sean'.
He was treated at the scene before paramedics took him into an ambulance, but his condition quickly deteriorated and he was taken back out into the road where they performed emergency surgery.
Paul was was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.
A post-mortem examination held on September 15, 2021, gave Paul's cause of death as stab injuries to the chest and abdomen, and he was found to have sustained 33 separate sharp force injuries.
At 3.20am the next morning, Sean Maurice was spotted in Burnt Ash Lane and pursued by officers on foot.
He climbed onto a shed and there was a brief standoff as officers tried to engage with him.
Police informed him he was under arrest on suspicion of murder, to which he appeared shocked.
He was taken into custody.
Sean, of Widmore Road, Bromley, was convicted at the Old Bailey on Wednesday and was sentenced the same day to 10 years’ imprisonment.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood, senior investigating officer, said: "Our thoughts today are with the family, who have been devastated by the events of that night.
"We know that Sean’s relationship with his father was a difficult one and had been for many years, however the level of violence used here was shocking and can never be justified.
"I am grateful to my team of officers who have worked so diligently in what was a very complex investigation."
