Welling have confirmed manager Peter Taylor's exit from the club after just over five months in charge.
The former England caretaker boss and Gillingham manager's departure was announced in a 67-word statement on Sunday.
Taylor's final game in charge was a 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Bath on Saturday, a result that left Welling just four points above the one relegation spot in National League South although bottom side Billericay do have one game in hand.
A Welling statement said: "We are sorry to announce the departure of manager Peter Taylor.
"The club is, however, grateful to Peter for all his hard work with the squad during his tenure since taking up the role in September 2021.
"A new manager will be appointed in the next 24 hours in preparation for our away fixture in the Vanarama National League South on Tuesday against Hampton and Richmond Borough."
Taylor took charge at the end of September after a dismal start to the campaign under Steve Lovell. He arrived with Welling on four points from their first six games and departs having increased that tally to 27 points from 30 games. The Wings, however, have won only one of their last 11 matches.
Welling have 10 league games left, starting with that trip to Hampton on Tuesday night.
As he was in September, former Bromley manager Neil Smith has again been linked with a return to the club he managed briefly in the 2007/08 season. Smith's final game in charge of Welling was, ironically, away to Hampton.
