Now returning from a second spell of self isolation, Welling will hope to leave their coronavirus stricken woes behind them as they travel to Oxford City in only their 10th National League South fixture so far this season.
Ironically, Oxford City were the last side that Welling faced before their Christmas period isolation, and Bradley Quinton's side will be looking for a transformed performance to the dispiriting showing in their 2-0 FA Trophy exit.
Now out of both cups, which they exited at their first attempt, Welling are now fully concentrating on league proceedings and after the government allowed for 'elite' sport to continue, this should only give extra incentives for the squad to upset the form book on Saturday.
Oxford City, who came from behind to beat Billericay at New Lodge on Wednesday, sit one point behind Eastbourne who hold the final play-off spot, having taken a respectable 19 points from 12 outings. Under the management of David Oldfield, the ex-Leicester and Luton midfielder, who guided Oxford City to the FA Cup second round before bowing out to League 1 Shrewsbury Town after extra-time, his side is now five games without defeat.
Even though Oxford City also had fixtures over Christmas and the new year cancelled, they have the advantage of having played a midweek match to get back into the groove.
Welling will hope to be reinvigorated following a fresh array of new players since their last clash with Oxford City on December 15. They've added highly-rated Millwall youngster Rob Strachan and Cray Wanderers striker Joe Taylor, who both arrive on temporary loan. Fellow Cray Wanderers wide man Rhys Murrell-Williamson, formerly of Welling, signed on similar terms, whilst there are an additional quartet of new additions.
Sam Mvemba, Harvey Brand and David Hughes join on a permanent basis, whilst Folkestone Invicta defender Finn O'Mara arrives on a one-month loan.
Anthony Cook has headed up a long list of outgoings at Park View Road with Lexus Beeden and Rowan Liburd also leaving the club. Although Beeden and Liburd failed to shine in their short stints at Welling, Cook was the Wings' lead focal point and club captain, winning the players' player-of-the-year award last term.
In addition central midfielder Matty Everitt has returned to Brighton following his loan spell, whist Huddersfield duo Mustapha Olagunju and Jaheim Headley have re-joined the Championship outfit.
The revolving door at Welling, which has seen ex-Braintree manager Bradley Quinton utilise over 30 players since the humiliating 2-0 defeat at step 5 Sheppey United in the FA Cup, is a slight cause for concern. The Wings boss will need to find his dependable best XI as soon as possible if they want to find some consistency and rise up the league table.
Quinton and Co won't look any further than Saturday, however, as the new-look Wings hope to return to action by taking all three points in Oxfordshire.
