The London bound carriageway of the Thanet Way was temporarily closed following a major accident on Thursday.
Police were called to a broken-down van parked half on the verge and half in the slow lane of the Thanet Way, just after the Chestfield Tunnel, at 6.50am.
Forty minutes later, a few hundred yards down from the incident, it is reported that a car braked sharply, causing the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa van to swerve and clip an Argos lorry in another lane.
The van flipped onto its roof.
The officer with the broken down vehicle ran up the road to help, but the male driver had already managed to get out of the van.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate as a precaution. He has suffered cuts and bruising. There were no other reports of injuries.
