Comic Dave Lee has been presented with a plaque to mark his 1,000th appearance at Canterbury's Marlowe Theatre.

The plaque, which says The Dave Lee MBE Suite, will go on the door of the dressing room which he always uses when he appears at the Marlowe.

It follows 14 years of treading the Marlowe stage in pantomimes and Easter productions, and his yearly variety show in aid of his charity Dave Lee’s Happy Holidays.

Mr Lee said he was surprised when he was told of the achievement. “I had no idea I had made so many appearances here,” he said. “I can’t believe that anyone else has made so many.”
