Five adorable kittens have been found dumped in a box outside a community centre.

The RSPCA is now appealing for information after the cute quintet were discovered sealed in a cardboard crate in Canterbury.

A member of the public spotted the terrified kittens in Tenterden Drive, Hales Place, and took them to the RSPCA’s Canterbury branch.

The box was dry with no faeces inside, so it is thought they were dumped shortly before they were found at 10am on Thursday.

A spokesman for the cattery said: “If you aren’t able to care for them and they do belong to you please do get in touch and sign them over officially to us.

“Unfortunately because they have been dumped this qualifies as an abandonment and now we are unable to do anything with them beyond basic care for the next fourteen days which means they are just going to sit in the cattery when they could enjoy lovely new homes.

“We are non judgmental. We know times are tough but if you reach out we can also help with neutering of the mum and any other cats in your care.”

RSPCA inspector Clive Hopwood, who is investigating, said: “It is never acceptable to abandon an animal. These kittens are so young and defenceless – we’re just pleased they were found when they were before any harm came to them.

“I’m urging anyone with information to get in touch with us on 0300 123 8018, so we can look into this further.”
