Families of Canterbury-based soldiers fighting in Afghanistan have spoken of how they are coping.
The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders from Howe Barracks left last month for a six-month tour.
The wives spoke as they attended the opening of the £36,000 refurbished community hall at the barracks.
Mother of two Ilona Duncan described the pain of saying farewell to husband Cpl Alan Duncan.
She said: “I don’t want to know about what’s happening in Afghanistan.
“I work on the theory that if they want to tell me something, they know where I am.”
