Staff at the city council were paid more than £16,000 in bonuses last year.

There were 20 payouts, with the biggest winner a worker in the finance department who received £3,500.

Another finance worker collected a £2,000 bonus and an officer in the leisure department was awarded £1,936.

The scale of the bonuses were revealed under a Freedom of Information Act request. They emerged in the same week the council was revealed to have 34 managers on its payroll earning more than £50,000.
