The crash happened between Canterbury Road at Boughton under Blean, and Brenley Corner, at Junction 7 of the M2.

A police spokesman said three cars and one lorry were involved and the road had to be closed in both directions.

Traffic was tailing back for several miles, to Wincheap in Canterbury and drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible.
