The victim of an alleged murder was stabbed twice with a large kitchen knife, it has been revealed.

Adam Pritchard died following an altercation at The Queen's Head pub in Boughton-under-Blean on March 13.

The dad, who was in his 30s, was described as "generous, funny and loyal" in tributes posted on social media.

Police arrested William Cosier the next day and, having been charged with murder, he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today (March 19).

The 33-year-old, of Well Lane, Canterbury, spoke only to confirm his name and that he had understood proceedings.

The incident occurred in The Street at around 10.30pm and Mr Pritchard was pronounced dead a short time later.

As well as being charged with murder, Cosier faces an offence of possessing a knife.

During the brief court hearing, prosecutor Laurence Imrie said both men had been in the pub that evening before the victim was stabbed to the "central trunk" area with one of the two wounds believed to have penetrated his liver.

Mr Pritchard collapsed about five minutes later and could not be resuscitated despite the efforts of paramedics.

Mr Imrie also said that other arrests made were not in connection with the alleged violence.

The trial, which will be held at Canterbury Crown Court, has been fixed to start on September 16 and is expected to last up to three weeks.

A plea and trial preparation hearing will take place at that same court on April 16.

No bail application was made on Cosier’s behalf and he was remanded in custody.

According to Kent Police, three men aged between 37 and 42 who were also arrested have been bailed until dates in June. Two other men aged 31 and 42 were released without charge.
