A body has been found amid a search for a missing man.
There was a large emergency service response in the Fordwich area of Canterbury yesterday.
Hamish McEwan was last seen in the Oaten Hill area of the city on October 17.
This morning, police confirmed a body has been found during the search for the missing 53-year-old.
“Shortly before 4pm yesterday, we were called to a report a man's body had been found in Fordwich,” a spokesman said.
“Officers attended and a man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Whilst formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of a missing 53-year-old man from Canterbury, who was last seen in the city on October 17, has been informed.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
Search and rescue teams could be seen searching the River Stour yesterday afternoon and a coastguard helicopter was seen circling the area at about 5pm.
Police and paramedics were also at the scene.
Officers first issued an appeal to help find the missing man last Wednesday and on Friday released a second image of him as they continued their search.
