A man with horns on his head and a forked tongue who calls himself the devil has appeared in court.

The 39-year-old man, wearing black clothing, a short red tie, a nose ring and deep green contact lenses, asked Canterbury magistrates to revoke a community service order on the grounds of ill health.

He gave the court the name Diablo Delenfer which, he claims, means "devil from the inferno", and an address in Seasalter.

Two horn-like points protruded from either side of his head and his hair pointed downwards in an arrow on his forehead.

Delenfer appeared at the court because he wanted a 200-hour community service order to be revoked. It was imposed for council tax fraud, housing benefit fraud and income support overpayments.

"I’ve repaid £3,500 that was overpaid," he told the magistrates.

Prosecutor Mark Hutchings said: "He dishonestly received these benefits, saying he needed the money for dental work."

Magistrates revoked the work order and instead ordered him to remain in his home between 5pm and 5am every day. He will also be electronically tagged.

After the case Delenfer said he had changed his name by deed poll and had "body modifications".

"Obviously, there aren’t many people who look like me and some might be a bit taken aback," he said.

"But other people realise I’m an almost normal human being in other ways and the kids love it," he said.
