A train station waiting room has been closed after its ceiling caved in.

Pictures show a hole in the ceiling at Canterbury West - with large chunks of tiles lying crumbled on the floor below.

The waiting room and The Pumpkin Café - based in the same building - are closed.

A Southeastern spokesman said the damage has been caused by a leak in the roof of the building.

Workmen are currently on the way to assess the issue, but it is not causing any changes to the train timetable.

Staff have attached a notice to the waiting room door, saying: "Due to a leak in the roof and the ceiling falling off in pieces, the waiting room is closed. Sorry for any inconvenience."
