CENSUS forms have been dropping through letterboxes in recent weeks and help is at hand to help you fill out yours.
Workshops are taking place at village halls and community centres across the district in the weeks ahead. Every successfully completed census secures more funding for Canterbury City Council.
The results are used to plan vital services such as schools, hospitals, emergency services and roads. It is estimated that for every one household that does not return their form, the district misses out on £5,000 of funding and investment over the 10 year census period.
Forms should have already been delivered to houses in the district ahead of the official census day on Sunday, March 27. For the first time, it can be filled out online by using the individual code on the front of the form.
City council chief executive Colin Carmichael hopes residents will take the time to complete the survey to get the maximum benefit for the district.
He said: “The statistics are used to plan the services we use every day, from the number of school places we need and where we locate play areas, through to local bus routes and future water supply.
“The financial impact of just a few hundred households not completing the census will be considerable and could see us lose potentially millions of pounds worth of improvements in the years to come.”
