The owner of the Lydden Hill race circuit emerged unscathed after crashing his rallycross car at a motorsport show.

Former British Rallycross champion Pat Doran, 58, lost control of his classic Ford RS200 and ploughed into hay bales at the Goodwood Festival of Speed event.

The crash, which happened on a fast left-hand bend, came just three years after the same machine burst into flames at a World Rallycross round.

Earlier this week, Mr Doran cancelled a popular two-day event at Lydden over noise and smoke fears.

The circuit hosted its last World Rallycross Championship event last month, but owners vowed to fight to get the series back.
