Car crashes into house in Sturry, Canterbury near Sturry Crossing, injuring two including 98-year-old woman

A car crashed into the side of a house in Sturry today, trapping two elderly people including a 98-year-old woman.

The silver Mercedes ploughed into the building in Sturry Court Mews off Sturry Hill.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called at 11.40am.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car and free the couple trapped inside.

The woman was suffering from shock and back pain, and the man sustained an arm injury.

They were both treated at the scene before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

Police were at the scene

No one inside the house was hurt.

The car has since been taken away and a structural engineer is assessing the damage to the house.
