Dozens flock to take part in the Great Valley Run

A CHARITY fun run and walk on Bank Holiday Monday raised about £3,500 for the Pilgrims Hospice.
Thirty-five runners, most in fancy dress, set off for the sixth annual Great Valley Run, which started and finished at the Mermaid pub in Bishopsbourne.
This 10km timed run through Elham Valley took place at the same time as a shorter walk which attracted 60 people.
Everyone completed either the run or walk and the first runner home was Luke Bricknell in a time of 46min, 2sec.
There was a prize for the best fancy dress costumes as well as the race winner. The fun run was the brainchild of a group of school friends from Barham and the first one six years ago raised £90.

See Thursday's Gazette for more pictures of the event.
