A pair of guinea pigs born in RSPCA care have yet to be re-homed almost 18 months later because they are too 'ugly'.

As a result, brothers Dribble and Tribble have become almost unintended permanent residents at the charity's Canterbury animal centre.

But their carers have not given up hope that they will one day find a new home for them.

Their mother came into the centre in 2017 and was re-homed after she had her litter.

But no one has offered to take her off-spring.

"We think the Tribble and Dribble are lovely but quite a few people have said they don’t want to adopt them as they are ‘ugly'," said centre manager Beth Hixson.

"It’s so sad to see this young pair still here instead of in a loving home.

"Guinea pigs can make great pets and the way they look makes no difference to how much love they have to give."

The pair enjoy munching on their veggies, exploring the dens and tunnels in their pod and chattering with each other in their run.

Beth says they will need a home with plenty of space and enrichment and an owner who can continue to build their confidence as they are a little nervous.
