A Whitstable grandmother is celebrating an early birthday present by scooping almost £8,000 in a charity lottery - just a week after entering the draw.
The winner, who says she wishes to remain anonymous, won the jackpot in the Kent Air Ambulance Superdraw claiming a cash prize of £7,832.
Amazingly her numbers came up in the first week she joined the £8-a-month lottery after signing up during a shop at Sainsbury's.
The lucky numbers were 11, 13, 24, and 29 picked as a result of family birthdays.
The delighted woman who celebrates her birthday this week says she plans to use the money for a holiday and a new bathroom.
She said: “I couldn’t believe it, I joined the lottery only last month so it’s quite amazing really.
"In a million years I didn’t think I would win anything, I thought I would just support the charity and I forgot all about it.
"I’m still quite shocked really so I’ve not really thought about celebrating but it’s my birthday this week so this is a lovely present."
The air ambulance lottery costs £1 per week with 12 winners drawn each week claiming prizes ranging from £25 to £1,000.
For an extra £1 a week, players can join the Superdraw which has a maximum jackpot of £25,000.
