She is up against fellow artists Kojey Radical, Rina Sawayama, Sam Ryder and Wet Leg for the prize.

Following the news, Webb, 22, filmed her mum's reaction to her nomination on TikTok before giving fans a sneak peek of her new song Red Flags, which is out tomorrow.

On the video, her mother Sue can be heard saying to her daughter: "I have got goosebumps. I am so proud of you."

The former Kent College pupil rose to fame during the pandemic on social media, which she now uses as a platform to tease her upcoming singles.

Last summer, she returned to her old school – where a piano teacher discovered her musical talents – as a special guest of headmaster Mark Turnbull.

She has also performed live at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Mimi lived in Gravesend and Medway, before moving to Canterbury.

She is known for her singles 24/5, Good Without, and House on Fire and is months away from releasing her debut album Amelia.

The nominees for all 12 categories were announced this afternoon.
