The man is believed to have been visiting the area on holiday, and helping friends to remove branches from the tree when tragedy struck.

A spokesman for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance said it was an accidental fall.

The man had suffered head, neck, thorax, upper arm and abdomen injuries.

South East Coast Ambulance Service sent three ambulances and two cars to the scene.
