A man found hanging at a garden centre near Canterbury had also suffered a gunshot wound, an inquest has heard.
The body of nurseryman Nigel Hanks was discovered by friends and colleagues at Gardeners Paradise in Stodmarsh on Monday, April 22.
It is believed the 63-year-old shot himself.
A post-mortem investigation report concluded the cause of Mr Hanks' death was "hanging by the neck", while the gunshot wound was determined to have contributed, but was not why he died.
His death sparked a large-scale response from emergency services, with multiple police and ambulance vehicles seen near the plant nursery.
Mr Hanks leaves behind a widow, Jane.
A full inquest has been adjourned until Thursday, July 18, at Archbishop's Palace.
