A man found unconscious in a school field after suffering a serious head injury has died in hospital.
Police had launched an appeal after he was discovered near the running track at Canterbury Academy at 4.15am on Tuesday last week.
Today they announced he died in hospital on Friday, with a post-mortem examination set to be carried out later this week to establish the cause of his death.
Three men arrested in connection with the incident, who were all known to the man, remain on bail pending further inquiries.
Detectives are continuing to investigate how the man came to be in a serious condition, and would like to hear from anyone who may have walked through the area between 8pm on Monday, May 25, and 4.15am the following morning.
They also continue to appeal for any witnesses to a disturbance in Union Street, Canterbury, in the late afternoon of Monday, May 25, to come forward.
As part of their investigation, police - including forensics teams - spent hours at a bungalow in New Dover Road on Wednesday.
Anyone with information should call police, on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/89430/20.
