Man injured near Westgate Towers, Canterbury, after being hit by car

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

The accident took place near Westgate Towers in Canterbury, at the junction of Whitehall Bridge Road and Whitehall Gardens at around 3.10pm.

It led to queueing traffic while the pedestrian, who suffered leg injuries, was treated by ambulance crews.

Secamb spokesman Rich Airey said: "We were called at just before 3.10pm to reports of a person hit by a car.

"We had one ambulance crew attend the scene. The patient is believed to have suffered leg injuries and is now on route to the William Harvey Hospital for further checks and treatment."
