A drug dealer has been jailed for three and a half years after admitting possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.

Tyrone Oliha, 22, was found with 52 wraps of the class A drugs and a small amount of cannabis in his pocket when he was stopped by police while travelling in a Mercedes in Keyworth Mews, Canterbury.

After being asked to step out of the car on July 11, Oliha, of Samuel Street in Peckham, London, volunteered the fact that he had some cannabis.

He then claimed in an interview that the drugs, which had a street value of £520, were for his own personal use, but tested negative for cocaine and opiates upon arrival at Canterbury Police Station.

Oliha, who also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis, was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court today.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jeff Brunger said: "The supply of drugs has a detrimental effect on communities and Canterbury Community Policing Team was patrolling the area in response to residents' concerns about illegal drug use in their neighbourhood.

"This sentence sends a strong message to people concerned in the supply of illegal drugs that the courts take offences very seriously and they could face a hefty prison sentence."

Police are urging anyone with information about illegal drug use or supply in their community to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or to speak to their local Police Community Support Officer.

"Every piece of information we receive can help build a picture of drug supply in an area so we can ensure an effective response and take appropriate action," DC Brunger continued.
