A MAN is due to appear before Canterbury magistrates on Thursday accused of rape in the city over the Easter holiday.

It is alleged to have happened in the early hours of Good Friday near the Odeon cinema in St George's Place.

Police have appealed for people who may have seen something suspicious by the cinema or in the Dover Street area to contact Det Sgt Mark Nottage on 01227 817154.
