Man suffers serious injuries in attack in Borough, Canterbury

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by two thugs as he left a takeaway in Canterbury.

Detectives are investigating the assault, which happened as the victim and a woman walked out of Ossie's Fish Bar in the King's Mile area of the city.

Police say the pair were walking in Borough at about 4.10pm on Monday when they were approached by two men who asked for a lighter.

A spokesman for the force said: "The man and woman continued walking and stopped at a takeaway for food.

"On leaving the premises, they were approached by the same males where an altercation took place.

"The man was assaulted and sustained serious facial injuries and attended a local hospital for treatment.

"The two suspects were seen to run off in the direction of Canterbury city centre."

It is understood the incident happened after the man and woman left Ossie's Fish Bar.

Police say the first suspect was described as a thin white male in his late-teens, and about 5ft 10.

He reportedly had a pale complexion with freckles, ginger hair and brown eyes.

He was believed to be wearing a dark-coloured puffer jacket and a hooded top, and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The second suspect was described as being of a similar height but with a broader build. He had short brown hair.
