A new retailer has confirmed it will open in a former Poundstretcher which closed just days ago.
The discount chain closed its store in Wincheap, Canterbury, at the end of November following four years at the unit next to Dunelm.
Now, having been empty for just a few days, a new tenant has announced it is to move in later this month.
Bed specialists Dreams will be welcoming its first customers at the site on Friday, December 17.
The chain already has a presence in Wincheap, on the industrial estate in Cotton Road, but has decided to relocate to a more visible location on the A28.
It means the existing base will be vacated when the new store opens.
The 44,000 sq ft unit which it is moving into was built in 2003.
It was put on the market last month, with a rental cost of £140,000 per year, and now Dreams has agreed to move in.
The window frames on the building, and bollards outside, have been painted blue ahead of the company's arrival.
Poundstretcher had been operating at the site since 2017, but bowed out in November.
Details over its departure are not known, yet it comes after the company was served with a notice by more than 60 landlords to vacate stores in September this year.
The firm demanded rent reductions in a restructuring programme - leading to landlords issuing the "company with a notice to vacate".
While the Wincheap store has closed, the city's other Poundstretcher - on the Marshwood Close Retail Park, off Sturry Road - is remaining open.
Dreams press office has been contacted for more information on its impending relocation.
