Pedestrians walking into Canterbury - or those coming from the bus station - are now met by a new tapas restaurant at the entrance to the city centre.
Fuego, which is a bar as well as an eatery, has opened in the prime location at the very top end of the high street.
It has taken on the vacancy left by Carluccio's inside the city's Fenwick store.
Sixteen jobs have been created due to the launch of the new restaurant, which has a Mediterranean-inspired menu.
Like Carluccio's before, there is a small area for outdoor seating facing the underpass and St George's Roundabout.
There are also plans to have significantly more available seating for al-fresco dining, with tables planned to run alongside the outside of Fenwick building down to the junction with Whitefriars Street, near to department store's main entrance.
The Fenwick website says Fuego's menu offers a "varied selection, from authentic Mediterranean-inspired tapas and the finest Italian and Spanish charcuterie to stone-baked Napoli-style pizzas".
Carluccio's had been in Canterbury for a number of years, but the chain fell into administration last spring.
