A chart-topping pop group and a Rupaul’s Drag Race winner will take to the stage at one of the county's biggest Pride festivals.

Pop sensations Liberty X and Tiktok star Caity Baser will perform alongside drag superstars Danny Beard and Baga Chipz at Canterbury Pride which will take place across two days for the first time.

The celebration of the LGBTQ+ community will also feature performances by West End stars Layton Williams and Miriam-Teak Lee.

Beginning his on stage career in Billy Elliot the Musical at just 12, Williams is best known for his role in BBC Three’s Bad Education and taking on the title role in hit musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie.

Miriam-Teak Lee is fresh off her Olivier Award winning run in the jukebox musical & Juliet.

Canterbury Pride entertainment director Stephen Sullivan said: “This is without question our best line up of performers ever.

“Being able to put together so many superstars alongside some incredible local talent is a real privilege.

“There will be something for everyone across the two days. I can’t wait to see everyone in the Dane John Gardens being their true authentic selves.”

Since its introduction, Canterbury Pride has become one of the city’s biggest events, drawing crowds from across the south east.

The event, which this year will be held on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, drew more than 30,000 people last year.

It will begin with a parade along the high street, prior to the performances in the Dane John Gardens and for the first time expanding into the Watling Street and Castle Row car parks.

The line up is also set to include drag performer Le Fil who competed alongside Danny Beard in series four of Rupaul’s Drag Race UK and the festival organisers have teased there are further international drag talents who are yet to be announced.

Liberty X formed in 2001 on the talent show Popstars and went on to have eight top 10 singles including Thinking It Over and Just a Little.

With more than 500,000 followers on Tiktok up-and-comer Caity Baser is off to a strong start and has already broken into the charts with her song Pretty Boys.

At the after-party hosted by Glitterbomb, revellers will be able to witness reality star royalty and Queen of Clean, Kim Woodburn keeping the festivities going late into the night.

In addition to the expansion of the venue into several city car parks and the move to a two-day shindig, the event which has always been free is introducing a £20 paid ticket tier which allowing holders to jump queues.

Canterbury Pride will also be broadcasting live from the Main Stage across Kent with Rob Wills as he hosts Floorfiller Anthems on kmfm.

Speaking about the growth of the event, sponsorship director Jonathan-Fitter Harding said: “I’m so excited that more people will be able to join us in celebrating how diverse our city is.

“We always receive feedback that Pride is over too quickly, so having the event over two days, along with a larger site footprint will allow even more people to celebrate Pride.”
