Off-duty police officer injured as he attempts to break up attack in Canterbury high street McDonald's

An off-duty policeman was hurt as he attempted to break up a 'fight' at a McDonald's restaurant.

The officer intervened in an altercation at the fast food branch in Canterbury high street on Tuesday evening.

The assault happened at McDonald's in the city centre

He sustained injuries from the attack and a second man was also assaulted.

Two men from Ashford have now been charged following the incident and will appear at court next month.

Luke Burden, 23, of Hillbrow Lane, was charged with assault of an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly.

Lenny Russell, 19, of Morgan Close, faces charges of assault and being drunk and disorderly.

They have both been released on bail to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on May 19.
