Thousands of people will be heading to Adisham near Canterbury tomorrow (Wednesday) for the highlight of the farming year.

Dating back almost 80 years when horses worked the land, the East Kent Ploughing Match remains a firm favourite in the countryside calendar.

Today, it still offers those traditional sights and sounds, plus a host of other rural-themed competitions, crafts, activities and stalls.

This year’s event is being hosted at Great Bossington Farm in Bossington Road where visitor parking is on site.

The packed programme includes vintage and tractor-drawn ploughing contests as well as heavy horse riding displays, birds of prey flying,

welly-throwing and tossing the sheaf competitions and terrier racing.

One of the most popular attractions is the craft tent where flower, vegetable and cooking entries are on display as well as demonstrations of countryside crafts.

There will also be many countryside-themed stalls to browse and food and drink stops.

The event runs from 9am to 4pm and entry for adults is £10 on the gate.
