Three people have been hurt in a serious crash on a road named one of the most dangerous in Britain.

The A291 Canterbury Road at Calcott Hill was shut after a Ford Transit van collided with a car shortly after 3.30pm.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the scene.

The two vehicles are thought to have collided head-on

The van remained on the road but the car careered off the carriageway and into a field.

Three people trapped in the car were cut free by firefighters, and are believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
