Schoolboy hit by car in New Dover Road, Canterbury, taken to hospital

A secondary school pupil has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car.

New Dover Road in Canterbury was shut this morning after the collision shortly before 8.30am.

Traffic information site Inrix reported very slow traffic in both directions at the Old Gate Inn pub following the incident.

A police spokesman confirmed officers were called to New Dover Road following a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian shortly before 8.30am today.

"A boy was taken to a local hospital and the road has since reopened," they said.

It is understood the boy - who is of secondary school age - suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
