The Kentish Gazette readers' photo competition is back for 2019.
Up for grabs this time is an impressive Panasonic Lumix FZ-330 'bridge' camera, sporting a fast, high quality Leica 25-600mm lens and worth £450, making it a real photographer's tool.
Every week, we will choose a picture to be featured on our letters page. The person who enters our favourite of the month will receive a canvas print of their image, which will then be judged against the final 12 at the end of the year to select an overall winner.
2018's prize was snapped up by Daniel Russell, of Charles Street, Herne Bay.
We had some wonderful entries throughout the year, but it was Daniel's dreamy image of Herne Bay harbour that was the clear winner in a poll on our Facebook page.
He has won a Panasonic Lumix travel camera and accessories worth about £400, courtesy of our sponsor Canterbury Camera Centre.
Daniel, 35, has focused on photography as way of coping with bipolar disorder.
"It really has been my saviour as I find it very therapeutic," said the divorced dad-of-two.
"I has really helped me come on leaps and bounds since I took it up."
A fan of atmospheric landscapes, he took the winning photo on a Canon 600D but says the Lumix will be very handy to have with him at all times and take candid pictures on outings with his children.
Daniel is now hoping to turn his hobby into a profession and has already started to sell some of his prints at Herne Bay craft market.
He is also planning his first exhibition at Beach Creative in Herne Bay, opening on May 17, for which he is currently building up his portfolio.
We want to see the very best examples of scenes from our vibrant, historic city, seaside towns and countryside, as well as eye-catching images from the many colourful events and festivals they host, such as Pride Canterbury, the Medieval Pageant, Whitstable Oyster Festival and Herne Bay Carnival.
Email your entries as good-sized jpegs to showcase@thekmgroup.co.uk, including your name, address, phone number and details of where the picture was taken.
Good luck and happy snapping!
