Tributes have poured in for a “vibrant” and “fun-loving” young woman following her unexplained death.
Raphaella Baker, 28, was pronounced dead after police and ambulance crews were called to a house in the city centre following fears for her safety.
Miss Baker was a student at Canterbury Christ Church University and had worked for Stafford House School of English, her Facebook page states.
She had also volunteered overseas as a charity worker.
Police say officers were called to an address in St Stephen’s Hill shortly after 10pm last Saturday due to “concern for the welfare of a 28-year-old woman”.
A spokesman says the victim was pronounced dead a short time after officers arrived with ambulance crews.
There are no suspicious circumstances and the death is being treated as unexplained.
Miss Baker’s friends and acquaintances expressed their shock at her sudden death on Facebook.
Amanda Groves described Miss Baker as “a free spirit and a wonderful soul”. She said: “Such sad and shocking news. Hope you are up there doing your thing in style, Raph.”
Kirk Gillock said: “Raphi was a kind-hearted and fun-loving person with a great sense of humour. She volunteered at our little charity in Thailand and that is how we will remember her. Helpful and caring.”
Karlie Evans wrote on the site: “Such a beautiful, vibrant fun-loving soul. I wish more than anything that you’re happy and shining brightly up there honey.”
A fund to raise money for Miss Baker’s funeral has been set-up by friend Sammy Dean who writes: “Such a sudden loss of a beautiful soul.
“Funerals cost large amounts and I’m sure we would all like to give Raphie the send-off she deserves and ease the family’s worries at such a hard time.”
