Six arrests after reported burglary at Canterbury house filled with cannabis plants

Six men have been arrested after a burglary at a house filled with cannabis plants.

Officers were called to Edgar Road in Canterbury shortly after 3am when neighbours were woken by a commotion outside.

One told how he saw men in a van going in and out of a house in the street.

Suspecting a burglary, he called police and patrol cars arrived, only for the van to speed off.

It was found abandoned nearby shortly after and the six men - two of them teenagers - were arrested.

The Queningate car park in Broad Street was cordoned off as part of investigation.

Forensics officers are still at the scene in Edgar Road.

A police spokesman said: "Following the incident, officers at the scene located a number of cannabis plants at the property.

"Two 19-year-old men, a 22-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old man all remain in custody while enquiries are ongoing."
