Burglars who broke into a city centre home in the early hours swiped a set of car keys and made off in the owner's sporty Audi S3
The intruders got into the property in Old Dover Road, Canterbury, at around 1.30am and stole a brown Louis Vuitton handbag containing a mobile phone, bank cards, sunglasses and the keys for the car.
It is thought the blue hatchback was driven away towards the A2.
Det Con Rob Goodban said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the burglary or has information that could help our inquiries to contact us.
"We are also encouraging people to protect themselves against car key burglars by making sure keys, cash and expensive items are not visible from the outside their homes."
Crime prevention officers say double-locking uPVC doors and windows, using timer switches on lights and radios to make it look as though someone is home and keeping garden gates locked are ways in which people can protect themselves against opportunist thieves.
