Dashcam footage has captured the moment a stone was "thrown" at a car's windscreen as the vehicle travelled down a busy road.

Sarah Walker, 33, had been driving in Rheims Way in Canterbury towards Harbledown when she heard a loud bang on the window.

She thought it could have just been a stone flicked from another vehicle.

But after reviewing her dashcam footage, she saw it appeared to have been flung from the other side of the road.

And she now suspects it could have been deliberately lobbed by someone from an underpass.

"It came from the sky and was such a tiny object on the screen," the software engineer said.

"I followed the trajectory and it came from the front of the van to the right of me at the time. I thought it could have come out of the vehicle, but that was unlikely."

She believes it could have been launched from an underpass which leads to Victoria Memorial Recreation Ground.

"I know sometimes you can get teenagers congregating there up to no good and throwing things, so I thought maybe it had been thrown from there," she said.

Ms Walker said fortunately there was no damage to the windscreen, but added: "If it was larger someone might have tried to avoid it, switched lanes and perhaps would have caused an accident."
