Extra warden patrols are being carried out as bags of dog poo are being thrown into a construction site where new homes are being built.

Dover District Council (DDC) has stepped up surveillance after receiving reports about the incidents at Station Field in Aylesham, between Dover and Canterbury.

Construction workers from Barratt Homes are currently on-site building the new Aylesham Park development near Bell Grove.

DDC says bagged waste is being thrown over the boundary fence, prompting the need for extra visits from the dog warden.

A spokesperson from the authority said: “The majority of dog owners pick up after their pets and dispose of the waste responsibly, however, a small number of irresponsible dog owners fail to do so.

“The Environmental Protection Act 1990 makes it an offence to litter which can result in a fixed penalty notice of £100.

“Should this go unpaid, DDC can take the matter to court where there is a maximum penalty of £2,500.”

Barratt Homes did not wish to comment.
