A takeaway driver was punched in the face before his bag was stolen while on a shift in Canterbury.

The victim, who was on foot at the time and is in his late twenties, was assaulted in Longmarket at around 9pm on Tuesday.

He then attempted to chase the thief to Blackfriars Road, where they jumped over a wall and ran away, leaving the empty bag behind.

Police believe the suspect, described as a South Asian man aged between 20 and 30 years old, was also involved in a separate incident in Wincheap at around 8.40pm on the same evening.

A "similar sounding suspect" is believed to have stolen a bottle of alcohol from a wine shop before assaulting a man who chased him down the street and confronted him.
