Wildwood’s pair of brown bears are set to come out of hibernation following months of rest.

Milcho and Gosho, who have been in a state of physical and mental inactivity since November, are due to leave their dens today.

And one lucky visitor to the Herne park will get the chance to welcome them back to the public.

Visitors in attendance will each be given a free raffle ticket on entry, with the lucky winner being given the honour of releasing the pair into their enclosure by pulling open sliding doors.

The winning ticket will be announced at the enclosure at 11.20am.

Both bears, aged around 16 years, were rescued from an abandoned bear breeding centre in southern Bulgaria.

The park raised £50,000 to bring back the pair who were born in the centre and left in concrete rooms.

Later this year, a new bridge offering wide views of the bear pen will open to visitors.

Keepers say they are considering bringing more bears to the park in the coming years.
