Thousands of rainbow-clad revellers have been enjoying Kent's biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community today.

Headlined by two contestants from RuPaul's Drag Race, Pride Canterbury saw the city awash with colour.

The origins of the festival date back to 2005, and this weekend's addition proved to be one of the best attended.

Celebrations kicked off with the ever-popular parade heading up to the city's Dane John Gardens from Westgate Towers.

TV's Baga Chipz, Jujubee, and Jimbo, as well as Kent's own drag superstar River Medway, entertained crowds along with presenter Denise Van Outen

Alexandra Burke was set to perform but had to pull out on Friday due to the latter stages of pregnancy.

With almost constant sunny weather, revellers soaked up the feel-good atmosphere throughout the day.

Queues to get into the Dane John were lengthy at peak times, with reports of hour-long waits stretching through the underpasses beneath the ring-road.

City councillor Rachel Carnac said in a tweet: "A great day when we can each be accepted for what we are.

"Long way to go, but Canterbury shows it can be wonderfully diverse and inclusive."
