The family of alleged murder victim Simon Gorecki have paid tribute, describing him as a "warm, bright and loving man" who was "infectiously funny".

Mr Gorecki, 47 and Natasha Saddler, 40, died during a suspected double stabbing in Dickens Avenue, Canterbury.

Foster Christian, 53, of the same road, has been charged with their murders.

The family of Mr Gorecki said: "We, his family, are devastated by our loss, as are his dear friends. He leaves behind so many who loved him, and of course his children who will miss him more than any of us can bear.

"As a family, our task is to now celebrate his life, and to support each other as we try to come to terms with the loss of his life. We must attempt to bear that burden with dignity."

Thanking well-wishers for their support, the family said: "Simon was a warm, bright and loving man, he was infectiously fun to be with and possessed that rarest of qualities, optimism, even when there was little to be found."

They added: "Rest in peace, Simon. You are loved."
