The BBC television show The Great British Bake Off came to Wingham on Saturday for an afternoon of competition.
Cameras watched as 200 amateur bakers – 70 children and 130 adults – submitted cakes as well as savoury entries for the contest.
The judging was done by cake baking legend Mary Berry, the author of more than 40 cookery books, and expert bread baker Paul Hollywood, who runs the Artisan Bread Company in Aylesham.
The final 20 contestants went through to a grand final with the two winners being Minne Oswalt in the adult section and Ellie Davis in the juniors.
Organiser Melanie Moore, who is one of the two vice-chairman of Wingham Primary School’s PTFA, says she is very pleased with how the day turned out.
She said: “We had lots of entries, including ones from outside the area, so that was good and it was overall a great success.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped out and who helped make it so fantastic.”
Those cakes and breads which did not make it through to the grand final were sold off to raise money to buy new playground equipment.
Some £3,000 was raised on the day which means the school should now have enough money to buy the equipment
